Timothy Michael Powell, DMA
Co-director of The Athena Festival
Timothy is a nationally recognized music educator and composer. He has been Director of Choral Activities at High School and Collegiate choral programs including Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School, Augusta, GA, and most recently, Oglethorpe University, Atlanta, GA. He is a Fulbright Scholar, award winning conductor and composer for concert, film, and games, and is a member of ASCAP and a voting member of the GRAMMY Recording Academy.
Tim Sharp, DMA
Co-director of The Athena Festival
Tim has divided his career work between college teaching, recording & publishing in Nashville, and non-profit arts administration. Most recently Tim served as Executive Director of the American Choral Directors Association (2008-2020), producing over fifty conferences in a thirteen year period. He is recipient of Belmont University’s distinguished Encore Award and is a member of ASCAP and a voting member of the GRAMMY Recording Academy.

The Athena Festival stands as a unique choral event globally, intertwining musical recording, performance, songwriting showcase, and musical scholarship into a singular Festival experience for High School choirs. It provides premier choirs with the opportunity to showcase their finest work in Nashville, where it can be recorded, performed, and acknowledged.
